Scripture for Meditation
ACTS 1
1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began
to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after
giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had
chosen.3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave
many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over
a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
NASB
1 The first account I composed, Theophilus, about all that Jesus
began to do and teach, 2 until the day when He was taken up to
heaven, after He had given orders by the Holy Spirit to the
apostles whom He had chosen. 3 To these He also presented Himself
alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to
them over a period of forty days and speaking of things regarding
the kingdom of God.
Meditation on Scripture:
As we read in scripture we see Gods declaration that it is the word of God. Equally valid is that this word came through the direct experience of people, influenced by the Spirit. The book of Acts is such an example. The same author that wrote the Gospel of Luke also wrote Acts and in fact that is what is referenced here. As we read scripture it can be deeply meaningful to see how God interacted with other human beings like us.
Good did not use some alternative form of human being to put out His word. God’s Spirit has great power both in times past and also now. Of all the important and powerful things that could be shared there are none so meaningful as to examine the role of Jesus Christ as our Savior, Redeemer, God, and King. That is where Luke starts. Then he continues with the witnesses to the events after the death of Jesus in the book of Acts.
We worship a God who has interacted with human beings throughout history and is willing to have a relationship with each and every one of us.
Meditation of Prayer:
Pray as directed by the Spirit.
Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him.
Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm:
I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials.
Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life:
