Dedicate this moment to preparing your heart to receive the peace of God. Whatever worries you have put them on hold and allow your mind and your heart to calm.

Bible verse for meditation:

KJV

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.19 We love him, because he first loved us.20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

ESV

18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot[a] love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Meditation on scripture / bible verse meditation:

What is fear?

What purpose does fear play in our lives?

It is not enough just to say that fear is bad and that we should not feel it. God has made a place in our hearts for fear. The Old Testament also uses the term fear for how we should consider God. Fear can motivate us but it is the basest of urges. As we mature spiritually we should look far beyond being motivated by fear. Fear does not have the power to change us into what God truly wants from us. He wants us to be full of love. He wants us to love him purely and to love each other with that same passion. If we are motivated by fear then we cannot truly experience that love of God. This scripture states that this type of perfect love casts out fear. Fear and pure love do not coincide in our hearts together. As we learn to experience the pure love of God and His mercy and charity, we become more able to respond to this love instead of fear. This makes fear inert, and useless to us. When we feel fear we can realize that God’s love can cast it out as we pursue him in pure love.  If we claim to be in the pure love of God but secretly guard anger or resentment towards others than we reserve a place in our hearts for fear to rule. We can try and justify this foothold for fear but the consequences of it do not go away. As we allow the pure love of God to penetrate our hearts, then we root out these secret dark alleyways where fear thrives. As we allow the love of God to penetrate us it sanitizes and cleanses our hearts of fear.  Please join me in prayer.
