Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:

Breathe and direct your thoughts to contacting God.

NRSV
21 When my soul was embittered,
when I was pricked in heart,
22 I was stupid and ignorant;
I was like a brute beast toward you.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with you;
you hold my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will receive me with honor.[e]
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire other than you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength[f] of my heart and my portion forever.

NIV
21 When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
22 I was senseless and ignorant;
I was a brute beast before you.
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

Meditation on scripture / bible verse meditation:

Like many of you I have been struggling recently. I have been working toward specific goals. Health outcomes that I want. I have felt guided to a specific course of action. I have prayed and have felt God guiding me toward something that I feel inspired to do. The problem is that I don’t see any real way for this thing to change. I feel in some ways that I dont know any way forward to do the thing God has directed me to do. I find myself asking if my faith is enough or if it just God’s will that I struggle.

Many times we alternate between illusions of grandeur and feelings of low worth. Either we imagine the God of heaven loving us so deeply or we think that we are unlovable and irrevocably flawed. I am trying to find the middle way. I am trying to hold my flaws and failings while still embracing the radical love that God has for me, a sinner.

This is not a veiled attempt to confess any particular sin, just a reference to a struggle that I am having. We all have them. The important thing isnt to avoid being honest with this fact or to minimize them when it does happen. THe important thing is that we learn to humble ourselves before the Lord. Who is there in Heaven but him or without him?

Meditation of Prayer:

Pray as directed by the Spirit.
Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him.

Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm:
I invite you to sit in silence feeling being patient for your own faults and trials.

Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life:

Details:

Final Question: What is a time that you have felt down? How did you reconcile that?

Final Thought:
Nobody is invincible to feeling down. Jesus himself feared the task before him. He wanted spiritual support from his Apostles outside the garden as he prayed. He cared and cried for Lazarus. He desired to be accepted and loved like us all. Even he experienced absolute rejection and isolation. As we overcome the things we stumble on in our life, we can be stronger and more spiritually mature.
