Bible verse for meditation:

KJV
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

NIV
1 To humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.
2 All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.
3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

Meditation on scripture / bible verse meditation:

I was listening to a podcast today and I heard something summarized that I have heard today but he said it so clearly. Goals can come and go but establishing consistent habits is what leads to lasting change. For those who follow the way of Jesus, we are on a path of improvement with peaks and valleys. As we feel inspired to follow him, at times we get discouraged, we get distracted, we lose focus. The good news is that regardless of where our hearts wander, our faith shows us we are still on the path. We can continue to trust that he will not only save us from the worst version of ourselves but that he will transform us over the course of our lives.

There is a tricky balance between perfectionism and complacence. When we fail to live up to what God expects us we can take an honest look at ourselves and feel the gentle twinge to allow us to take accountability while at the same time accepting God’s grace. He weighs the motives of our hearts. He will establish our plans as we trust in him and fully commit. This commitment need not be full of fear and anxiety but a calm assurance that as we remain committed to improvement that we will improve and some day, perhaps in a few million years, we will reach some of the goals he has for us. Drop the fear and continue to commit to him with faith in His power and mercy.

Final Question: How can you recommit to God?

Final Thought:

The statistical chance that you have messed up on some of the righteous desires you have for yourself is extremely high. I know I have already. The Good News of Jesus is that we are transformed through our faith in Him. The work he does through us can be mighty. Although you and I both have a long way to go we can rejoice in the goodness of our God. Our mighty God has the power to cast galaxies into supermassive black holes. He has the power to transform ashe into life. He is not limited even by time or our concepts of weakness and strength. This same being is the one who has declared to us that He loves us enough to show us the way and that he is patient with us as we make our best efforts to follow. Keep committed to the Lord and improving in him.
