The scripture is a continuation of the scripture from Episode 37
Bible verse for meditation:

Matthew 6:19-21
NIV

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

ESV

19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. What does this scripture mean to you?Has it had a different effect this reading as compared to times past? How does this scripture make you feel?
Continue breathing deeply as you ponder this meaning.

Meditation on scripture / bible verse meditation:

What is treasure? What is important to you right now?For faithful followers of Christ, heaven is the greatest treasure that we seek. It can be very instructive as we ponder what we spend our time doing. Where are our hearts. The scriptures teach that the love of money is the root of all evil. When we place our hearts anywhere but on the Love of God we waste our focus and our lives. As we learn to let go of ambition and the things of this world, we prepare our hearts to be open to God and the things of heaven. By having this kind of Godly focus we also end up serving and loving each other while forming meaningful bonds.

This week I am going to be at a funeral of a man who was on hospice as well as a US Navy veteran. In hearing of his love for family I was moved. He and his wife had a tradition of giving each other the same candies each year for their birthdays ang going out to diner. As he was not able to leave the house he had others buy the candies for him and people from our hospice company helped them share a dinner date. This man had spent a life of dedication to others. This is a fulfilment of Jesus’ second great commandment.
We can’t wait until the end of our life to start placing our focus on what is important. We must begin now. We can exert and develop our faith in God. We can learn to trust him and then, with his help, do everything in our power to live his Gospel. With this focus he can mold us in his image.

Final Question: What is some specific thing that you want to place more focus on in your life?

Final thought -Faith in God is not a single act but a principle of power. It is lived in a life of trust in Him and concerted focus. As we have faith in God, we can then put Him first in our lives. In the coming days, keep this thought in your mind. Allow it to guide you. Accept His guidance of your focus. God can heal us of sin and all suffering and guide our path to lay up in store treasure in heaven. Where are hearts are, there is our treasure. May our treasure always be God and His glory.
