Stop. Listen. In your heard in this moment let these words resonate. Lord, here am I. Your servant is listening. As you do this you feel your breathing start to slow. As you invite air all the way down into your belly you feel a tingle of release in all your tense muscles. Feel this calm.

Bible verse for meditation:

This scripture is in 1 John 1:8-10

KJV

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

ESV

8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Meditation on scripture / bible verse meditation:

I meant to do an episode on forgiveness, as in the need we have to forgive each other but I felt a strong pull to this passage. Only after we fully own our need for forgiveness to the other mandates of Jesus and his Apostles reach our hearts. Many calls for us to forgive are coincided with comparisons of our own need for forgiveness and how that is much greater.

It is quite unfashionable to speak of sin these days. Many people have been wounded by shame. Many of us fear our temptation, and we want to overcome it so badly. The sad consequence is that we can turn a blind eye. We must train our hearts to listen to our conscience. John loves the message of light for Jesus. When we constantly ignore God’s light we become less able to perceive it. When we feel convicted by the spirit, and we listen, the sentence is served not by shame but by a broken heart and a contrite spirit. We can reach a place when our ego is surrendered to gain the peace of God.

Consider who would win in a contest, the conviction of the Holy Spirit, or you? God’s desire to purify our hearts will ultimately bring us more happiness and peace than anything else in this life. When we can bow before him and feel the deep paradox of our eternal need for him while also feeling complete in Him.

Meditation of Prayer:

Pray as directed by the Spirit.

Pray now regarding the beatitude that is resonating with you.

Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm:

I invite you to sit in silence with a heart of gratitude for his ability to forgive us.

Meditate and Visualize Positive Change in Your Life:

What insights did you gain during these moments?

What thing will change in your life after this moment?

Use you imagination to fully visualize what that change will look at. Image one very concrete change you will make in your life. What new action will you take. Visualize yourself now doing this new action.  Make it as vivid as possible with as much detail.

Visualize blessing someone else:

Now visualize someone or a group of people who need this message. Imagine what their face would look like as they receive this scripture in their hearts. Imagine how you can share it with them.

Conclusion:

Print and use this scripture.

I release a new episode of this every Sunday morning at 1AM Mountain time in the US.
